The 2015 Syracuse Area Music Awards (SAMMYS), presented by World of Beer, will include the March 5 Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which takes place at Upstairs at the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, 246 W. Willow St., and the March 6 awards ceremony at the Palace Theatre, 2384 James St.
Performers will include Joanne Shenandoah, Scars N Stripes, the Ruddy Well Band, Grupo Pagan and a reunion of The Works. Both 2014 events were sellouts, with tickers for the 2015 shows going on sale in February.
Musicians, bands and artists are encouraged to submit their 2014 recordings for Sammy consideration. Official submission forms and instructions are available at syracuseareamusic.com/submissions. Recordings released between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 are eligible. Submission deadline is Jan. 5.
The Sammys People’s Choice nomination period will take place Jan. 1 through 13. The public can nominate their favorite local music artist, live music venue and festival or live music series. Nominations and voting will take place at syracuseareamusic.com/peopleschoice. Voting begins Jan. 14.
