    Second Annual Bacon, Bourbon Fest

Last year was the inaugural launch of the Annual Bacon and Bourbon Fest at the Ridge Golf Club and Tavern. It was my introduction to the Ridge as a music venue and from that moment on, it has solidified itself in my heart to be one of the most enjoyable places to hear some great local music in this region.

This year, the festival falls on Sunday, May 31.

If last year was any indication of what this year will be like, it will be one amazing day of music that gets you moving. This also includes the most delicious food you have ever eaten, made with bacon, and an array of bourbons that could turn anyone from a curious taster to a passionate spirit enthusiast.

It all comes situated in a breathtaking setting of the Ridge Tavern and Golf Course in scenic Chittenango, NY. The Bacon and Bourbon Fest is a fund raiser for the Ridge’s next door neighbor, Clear Path for Veterans, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving active veterans, military members and their families. They provide a number of programs and services that rely on methods of self-empowerment, peer-to-peer support, and community involvement.

Added to this year’s lineup of delectable libations, the Erie Canal Brewing Company will premiere a custom-brewed beer specifically made for Clear Path. And of course, a bounty of bacon-featured delights from savory and sweet desserts, to a selection of over 50 bourbons will be available. To complete the sensory palate, the live music will be provided by a collection of some of the best local bands in the region; many of whom have been regularly performing at the Ridge’s tri-weekly live music nights.

The current lineup is as follows: Jam Factor, Boots n’ Shorts, The Golden Novak Band, Vagabond Station, The Ripcords, and Los Blancos. 105.9 The Rebel’s Dave Frisina, will be broadcasting live from the festival. Attendees of the festival can start arriving at the Ridge at 1 p.m., while the first act begins at 2 p.m. The last act is planned to start at 8:30 p.m.

My recommendations to ensure the most enjoyable time at the festival is to bring a blanket and/or chairs if you want to sit out on the lawn, wear sunscreen if you want to avoid a sunburn and bring extra cash because you will not want to miss out on the many treats and spirits. Tickets are $25 pre-sale, which will end online at 4 p.m. on Saturday. To purchase tickets, visit www.eventbrite.com.

For more information about the Ridge and the other music festivals they will be having this summer, see their website at www.golfattheridge.com.
