    CREEK FLOAT

    Creek Float is an annual floating art parade held on Onondaga Creek presented by the Public Arts Task Force. This year’s parade on the water takes place Saturday May 3rd at 3:00pm. Organizers suggest the best spots for viewing are on the Creek Walk in Armory Square or Franklin Square. Click HERE for more info.

    HUGHTO’S FILM, ART ON DISPLAY IN SYRACUSE

    J.R. Hughto is a filmmaker and photographer whose work explores duality, principally the friction between nostalgia/modernity and documentary/lyricism.
    Hughto’s photography will be exhibited through June 14 at Dalton’s American Decorative Arts, 1931 James St., Syracuse. Call 315-463-1568 for information.

    PAWCASSO: AN ART EXHIBIT BY, FOR AND ABOUT ANIMALS

    The eighth annual “PAWCASSO” art show is a silent auction of donated art and raffles of gift baskets 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. May 3 at Maple Downs, 7220 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. Light appetizers will be served, and there will be a cash bar and entertainment. Proceeds benefit Spay and Neuter Syracuse, a spay and neuter clinic for shelter and rescue animals, feral cats and dogs and cats belonging to low income families, students and veterans in Central New York. For tickets or information, call 315-726-3565 or e-mail [email protected]. Tickets are $45 in advance and $50 at the door.

    REGISTRATION OPENS FOR ARTS FEST IN FULTON

    Vendor registration is open for the fourth annual CNY Arts Center Arts Fest, which is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 14 at the Fulton Community Center Ice Rink. The event brings artists and crafters together with handmade original art on display for sale along with food vendors, and hands on art.     EVERSON TO HOST BEER GARDEN NIGHT

    The Everson Museum of Art will host a Beer Garden Night as the third event in the Everson Night Out Series. The event is free and open to the public, and will take place 5 to 8 p.m. May 15.

    H. Lee White museum holds movie night

    In honor of the 80th anniversary of Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse, the H. Lee White Maritime Museum and the Oswego Film Group will screen the movie “Lightkeepers” 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Beacon Hotel, 75 W. Bridge St., Oswego. “Lightkeepers” was filmed in 2009 at Race Point Lighthouse in Cape Cod, Mass., and stars Richard Dreyfuss, Blythe Danner and Bruce Dern. It is a romantic comedy set in 1912 about a lighthouse keeper, who has sworn off women. Some of the artifacts used in the movie belonged to Oswego resident Ted Panayotoff.

    There are 50 tickets available, seating is on a first-come-first-serve basis. You must have a ticket to view the movie. Tickets can be picked up at the H. Lee White Marine Museum, and River’s End bookstore, 19 W. Bridge St.

    Everson holds opening reception for exhibits

    The Everson Museum of Art is holding a members’ opening night reception for the arrival of the first three installments in the 2014 Edge of Art Series. The reception will be held 5:30 to 8 p.m. May 9 at the Everson Museum of Art and will celebrate the arrival of “Daniel Buckingham: Secret Invitation,” “Mary Giehl: Rice is Life” and “Sarah McCourbrey: Works on Paper.” There will be hors d’oeuvres, cash bar and live music by Jerry Exline.

    Advanced tickets are required and can be purchased at www.everson.org or 315-474- 6064 ext. 337 during gallery hours. Tickets are $5 for Everson Members and $15 for non-members. For more information, visit www.everson.org/exhibitons.
