For the better part of this past year I’m been working on a nationwide UFO sighting magnitude study. Of course New York state easily ranks in the top 10 for UFO sightings, typically in the top five. New York, like all states, has hot spots and cold spots for UFO Sightings.
In the past 15 years, New York’s top three counties for UFO Sightings rank like this: Suffolk County at over 500, Erie County at over 350 and Kings County at about 300 sightings.
On the other end of the spectrum are the low-sighting counties, in particular the single digits counties. Third from the bottom with five UFO reports is Schoharie County. Interestingly, the bottom position is shared by two counties, each with three UFO reports, Hamilton and Wyoming Counties.
I suppose it’s appropriate to note that Hamilton County only had a population of 4,836 persons as of the 2010 census. On the other hand, both Schoharie and Wyoming Counties have seven to nine times the population of Hamilton County.
Oddly, although Schoharie County borders Albany County that has a three-digit UFO sighting range around a 125, it seems strange they don’t see more activity. Likewise, Wyoming County borders New York’s No. 2 county for UFO sightings, Erie County, you’d think some of that UFO air traffic would be reported by the good residents of Wyoming County. It’s puzzling why counties so close to each other have such vastly different UFO sighting indexes.
A case can be made that Hamilton County is literally in the middle of Adirondack State Park, a remote location in the mountainous Adirondacks. Given the county’s low population, you might not expect too many UFO reports from Hamilton County. The mere three reports in 15 years, I say, confirms it.
So if you are looking for a quiet place to get away from it all, including from UFOs, then lovely Hamilton County, New York, is the place to visit.
Let’s look at some recent UFO sightings in New York Skies:
May 27, 2016: At 11:10 p.m. a resident of Albany observed a bright light flying above some tree tops.
May 28, 2016: At 5:20 p.m. a resident of Coram witnessed glowing lights in the sky that hovered and flew away rapidly.
May 29, 2016: At 8:14 p.m. a resident of Rensselaer saw a large airborne object flying at low altitude moving at various speeds including hovering in place. The witness said it wasn’t a helicopter.
May 30, 2016: At 9:10 p.m. a resident of Central Square reported a bright object with no aircraft navigation lights.
May 30, 2016: At 9:10 p.m. a resident of North Syracuse reported seeing a bright light traveling at great speed in the northern sky.
