    Welcome to another round of weekly events.

    Improv. Stand up comedy. Food and craft markets. Sports. Fundraisers. Fall nature tours. Music galore. There are all these and more this weekend: More proof of things going on in Central New York.

    With the craft fairs taking place, it probably is in your best interest to try and get some shopping done. It’s not a bad way to stay ahead of the game, right? Naaaah, There is a lot of fun going on. Push the shopping off until next weekend.

    Salt City Improv

    Salt City Improv is celebrating its house team, Pork Pie Hat, because the short-form team is now a 4-year-old. There is an open invitation for all to come celebrate and check out the team’s “Whose Line is it Anyway?” style of performance. Long-form improv team Skittle Fit opens.

    To coincide with Syracuse Beer Week, the convention center is holding the national beer event, celebrating American craft breweries.

    Winter Famers Markets

    When the winter weather gets too slick to travel to the regional market, here are two options — eastern and western Onondaga County — that will cut down on your travel.

    Jingle Bell 5K Run

    In an effort to raise money to find a cure for arthritis, dress up in your best holiday-themed outfit and hit the parkway for a fun 5K. According to the registration page on the website, “the limit for all registration types has been reached.” Still, it’s encouraged to show up and support. No donation is too small.

    Little Black Dress Fundraiser

    The WISE Women’s Business center is hosting a cocktail party in an effort to raise money to support the women entrepreneurs in Syracuse and surrounding Central New York communities.

    The Action!

    CNY’s Finest

    Amy Robbins and Dave Frisina host the concert and celebration of women in music in Central New York. All procedes will benefit The Centers at St. Camillus.     Sherma Andrews: “Legendary Ladies of Song”

    CNY Jazz is celebrating its 20th Anniversary cabaret season with Sherma Andrews. She’ll pay tribute to her favorites: Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Aretha Franklin and more.

    Stephane Wrembel

    The French musician has been credited with many efforts, and especially the soundtrack to the award-winning Woody Allen film, “Midnight in Paris.” The Nelson Odeon is bringing him to Central New York for a two-day showcase. He will be performing both nights, and he’ll be holding a guitar workshop Saturday afternoon from 3:30-5:30 p.m.

    Build ‘Em and Bust ‘Em Bridge Building Competition

    The annual competition returns to the museum. Teams of two or three students from several surrounding CNY counties and from throughout the state come to build balsa wood. The strongest truss bridges will win, and winners will be determined after professionals test the breaking/bust points of each construction.

    The competition categories:

    Category I: Grades 4 – 6
    Category II: Grades 7 – 8
    Category III: Grades 9 – 12
