POINTS OF REFERENCE is a music news blog for people with actual lives and/or short attention spans: a weekly selection of topical, pop music talking points fit for bars and break rooms.

It’s divided into three sections: NEWS (duh), ALBUM RELEASES (once more with feeling), and STUFF AND THINGS (random, music-related crap from the internet). So, I’m all finished up here. Scroll down, won’t you?

    NEWS:

    • Kanye West mimicked Nas visited Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.
    • Forbes released its annual list of “the world’s highest-paid musicians.”
    • Andre 3000 and Big Boi, aka Outkast, had “some conversations” about possibly reuniting for Coachella 2014.
    • Pharrell Williams debuted the first 24-hour music video.
    • “Writers” at the illustrious People Magazine named Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine “sexiest man alive.” The Internet vomited while Ryan Gosling strode down a peaceful East Village side-street. Suddenly, Gosling halted his gait, titled his head skyward, and penetrated the atmosphere with a disquieting leer. Lighting flickered across the cloudless sky. Thunder rumbled. Aphrodite wept.
    • Lauren Hill wants us to despise her.
    • American Laundromat Records announced that it will release a Wes Anderson tribute album titled, “I Saved Latin!: A Tribute to Wes Anderson.”

    ALBUM RELEASES, NOV. 19:

    Beady Eye, “BE” (Columbia).

Jake Bugg, “Shangri La” (Island). Listen.

Kurt Vile & the Violators, “It’s a Big World Out There (And I Am Scared)” (Matador).

    STUFF & THINGS:

    • “Sex Dolphin.”
    • Jonah Bayer of Vice compiled a list of “underrated but great” guitarists.
    • The New Yorker dug artist Vania Heymann’s interactive music video for “Like a Rolling Stone.”
