According to a story by Chris Agar posted Wednesday on Screen Rant, the actor has gone to his social media sites to spread the word that … well, it’s time to start spreading the word about the seventh installment of the Fast and Furious adventure thrillers.
Writes Agar: “Now, director James Wan is deep in post-production as he gets the highly anticipated sequel ready for next spring. That means we’ll start to see some marketing materials soon, and thanks to the franchise’s most visible actor, we’ve already started to see the first traces.”
Wan went to his cast, Agar writes, with the trailer to FF7. And Diesel went to his 85.3 million fans on Facebook — gulp, how much do you trail him by? — to write that news up and post two stills from the movie. The first is of is character, Dom Toretto. The second is his character talking with Brian O’Conner, the character played, of course, by Paul Walker, who died in a car crash during the filming of FF7.
Wrote Vin D on FB after seeing the trailer: “We all went above and beyond to make Pablo (Walker) proud, but man, I wish he could see what we have created and just how far we have come.”
So, yes, please do feel free to let it all out.

There’s going to be a new installment of the Star Trek franchise zooming into our world, allegedly come 2016, and it’s going to involve screenwriter/producer Robert Orci, who was at the helm when the Kirk family name and the Enterprise was so heavily involved in 2009’s Star Trek.
So, writes Sean O’Connell on Cinema Blend Wednesday, the rumor mill quickly became filled with the name William Shatner. But …
“Cold water time, Star Trek fans. I’m sorry to have to do this to you, after teasing the possibility for days. But William Shatner just responded, publicly, to the rumors that there is a cameo waiting for him in the still-developing Star Trek 3 (if that’s what Paramount decides to call it) and the news is less than earth-shattering.”
James Kirk, er, William Shatner tweeted that it’s gossip, nobody’s contacted him, “Right now it’s just rhetoric to cause hype.”
Ah, yes, but as any good reporter would, O’Connell goes on to point out that it is so early in the process that who’s to say a call would have been made already? And that Spock Prime, as they called the old Vulcan played by Leonard Nimoy, was in this Enterprise reboot twice. And Shatner’s Kirk already was coveted and filmed, but J.J. Abrams cut his scene out in 2009. And, finally, that 2016 will be the 50th anniversary of the original Star Trek and “a sequel reaching the theater that year has the potential to bring real closure to Captain Kirk’s journey, while also freeing the new cast from the obligations of the past, opening them up to completely new voyages for the future.”
O’Connell is rooting for that call to Shatner to be made. Me, too. You?
